WELCOME!

My name is Matthijs and welcome to my website!

I’m 31 years old and I have over 15 years of experience in the music industry. It all started for me when I was around 14 years old, when a nephew of me introduced me to music production software called “Reason”.
He showed me the creations he made and from that moment on a seed was planted and I was completely fascinated by the process of creating music.
I started working on creating music myself soon after and started releasing some music on small EDM labels. Besides releasing music I also got a booking request every now and then, so I also started practicing my DJ skills.
A couple of years later, i started a study Media & Entertainment management in Rotterdam, for which  I needed to do an internship. Back then I was signed (for my own music) with my publishing at Cloud 9 Music, so I asked them if I could do an internship tere, which was possible.
I started there as a copyright assistant, taking care of all the publishing registrations for their artists and publishing funds. I did that for a couple of months and when the internship was finished they asked me if I could stay, which I did. I started part-time as a copyright manager there. shortly after I also did some record label related work for them and i got promoted to junior copyright manage.r
After working at cloud 9 music for a couple of years I was asked by Dov Elkabas aka DJ The Prophet to start working at Scantraxx Recordz, which is one of the bigger hard dance labels worldwide. This was a huge opportunity for me and I started working there as a label manager in early 2014. Around this time there was a big switch going on, both in the team, but also with the artists that were releasing on the label.

Most of the bigger and successful artist left the label right before I started working at Scantraxx, which left me with a small – but talented – roster.we had to rebuild everything up again. Also, the team was completely new, as all the crew switched into new people.

I was responsible as a label manager, but I also did music management, A&R, and all other things that had to be done, simply because there was nobody else to do it. One of the things I also started doing was artist management. For me this was the most fun part of work to do as I had a real close connection with the artists, which still had my interest because i was active as an artist myself in the past.

After some time the team at Scantraxx became bigger and talented artists made steps in their development, and the artist management work I was doing was growing a lot. For me I had the feeling I had to make a decision: focus on the label, or focus on the artist management. I chose for the last thing: artist management. We found a new general manager for Scantraxx and together I started DVTD MGMT in 2016.

Artist Management & coaching is up to today the work I love doing most and this was the basis for also launching this new website now where I offer my expertise to help you or your company by delivering more personal services like coaching and concept development.
